Connection with a horse is a level beyond most any other animal I’ve known. Both their own presence and a mirror of our own deepen interactions with these animals — we are either willing to bring our full self, or they won’t meet us. It doesn’t need to be pretty or put together … just true.

To look into the eyes of an animal, and have them look into yours, shifts something inside of you. If you’ve felt it, you know it.

This is an 8x10” fine-art print of the original work. Archival inks on Photo Rag Baryta paper produce rich blacks and a wide range of tones to capture detail. Paper print has a 1/4” white border on all sides of the artwork image.

This style of hand-illustrated engraving has been around since the 1800s. A panel of Masonite (like compressed wood, very durable) is covered with white clay and then a thin layer of black ink on top. I use a small Xacto blade or mini fiberglass brush to carve into the black ink, exposing variable degrees of the white clay beneath.

These prints are open-edition, and not limited in production. Each is labeled and signed by Jennifer.
