“King” — The bighorn has long captivated my attention; their power, resilience, and those horns that reflect every battle.

This style of hand-illustrated engraving has been around since the 1800s. A panel of Masonite is covered with white clay and then a thin layer of black India ink on top. Using a small Xacto blade and mini fiberglass brush, I carve through the black ink hair by hair, exposing variable degrees of the white clay beneath.

Two sizes of fine art prints are available of the original 12x16” hand-engraved original — 11x14” and 16x20”. Archival inks on Photo Rag Baryta paper produce rich blacks and a wide range of tones to capture every detail. Prints have no borders to allow for personal framing options. Both sizes are permanently mounted on 3mm black styrene to minimize warping and provide protection during handling and framing.

Mounted prints are lightweight and very easily framed.
